Vancouver Fishing Report, Labour Day Weekend!
We have enjoyed some fantastic fishing over the last week on our 8 and 10 hour charters. Our half day trips have been productive, but not nearly as active as our full day trips to the South Arm of the Fraser River.
Solid waves of fish have entering the Fraser River on every high tide for the last couple weeks. We have been focusing most of our efforts from Point Grey all the way down to the Sandheads. We have been landing some big chinook up to 33 pounds, lots of pink salmon, a few coho, and carefully releasing some sockeye. We have been running big herring, anchovies and glow hootchies behind Gibbs UV Moon Jelly Flashers. Productive depths have been from 20 to 70 feet.
We will see the Mouth of the Fraser River continue to produce good numbers of chinook and pink salmon for the next 10 to 14 days. If you are looking to get out on an active fishing trip, our 8 and 10 hour trips to the South Arm of the Fraser River are very good bets.
We are only a week or two away from the beginning of the big chinook salmon fishery in Vancouver Harbour. From mid September until mid October, good numbers of chinook salmon averaging in the 10 to 30 pound range will be available only minutes from downtown Vancouver. Check out this video segment we did with our good friend Rick Clark in early October a couple years back.
Vancouver Sturgeon fishing has been excellent in the Lower Fraser River. Luke has had some great days over the last week with some solid numbers and some big fish in the 6 to 7 foot range. If you have never tried sturgeon fishing, it is at its best for the next couple months!! Our sturgeon boat is located only 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver and is so easy to get to! Check out this great review from one of our groups that went out Sturgeon fishing with Luke last week!
We have some fantastic fishing options right now!
