Mid Summer Fishing Report for Vancouver

This is the time of year when things start ramping up for chinook salmon in local Vancouver waters!!   Chinook salmon will soon be open in portions of Vancouver Harbour as of  August 1st. We have already been seeing good numbers of chinook salmon in the Gulf Island's on our full day trips.   If you are looking to do some local trips out of Vancouver, August is a good bet!

Coho salmon have provided with excellent action for the last month, but things are starting to slow down in offshore waters off of Bowen Island.   We expect more coho salmon to push in to Vancouver Harbour this week as they begin to stage for the Capilano River.    These Vancouver Harbour coho should fill in some action gaps, while we are waiting for big chinook salmon to bite!

If you are looking at getting out on the water in September to take advantage of the Fraser River Mouth Chinook opening, it is a good idea to get on it sooner than later as availability is getting quite limited already.   September is when chinook are basically wide open with a 2 fish per person limit and no maximum size limit.  Give us a call or an email if you would like to get out there!
